Hold Me Accountable

I cannot imagine a life where there is no one to speak the truth to me or offer constructive criticism to help me grow. Even more frightening is the thought of becoming alienated from God and developing a hardened conscience! So, if you love me, hold me accountable! Tell me when I am walking down the wrong path. Draw my attention to any weaknesses that could eventually become my downfall. Sometimes, we become so accustomed to our own ways that we fail to recognise the danger lurking ahead. The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 14:12: “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” — Proverbs 14:12 (KJV) As the Akans would say, the one carving out a path does not know that, behind him, there are crooked paths. What a profound reminder that we may not always see our own blind spots! Sometimes, we need someone standing on the sidelines to point out what we cannot see for ourselves. He is always good

He Is Always Good On July 2, 2024, we were attacked by a lone armed robber. It was one of the most traumatising events we had ever experienced. He had wrestled with my mum before making his way to my room, where my daughter and I were asleep. As he ransacked our house and took everything he deemed valuable, we found ourselves in a helpless situation. We could not find the strength to fight against someone who was wielding a gun. I wondered, Is this how it is all going to end? I said a prayer in my heart and expected a miracle. What if God sends His angels to rescue us? Just as He did for Peter when he was behind bars in Acts 12, or when He used four lepers to scare away the Syrian army in the face of danger in 2 Kings 7:3–20. Nothing is impossible for Him, right? He is more than able! As I pondered God's many prom...

Start Again

We are already in the ninth month, almost moving to the tenth! It’s unbelievable how quickly time is flying. At the beginning of the year, there must have been a plethora of goals and to-do lists you placed on the table. Remember that bucket list of activities you said you would accomplish? Whatever they were, life happened along the way. You may have achieved some, while others are still sitting on that list, waiting for your attention. Perhaps some life-changing events made you lose your spark, your motivation, or even your excitement for the life you envisioned. Instead of seeing it as a rerouting, you may have thrown in the towel, convinced yourself that it was the end, and slammed on the brakes. Our minds are wired around the twelve-month calendar and the timelines we set for ourselves. When we reach certain milestones, we feel proud and often don’t hesitate to share our accomplishments with the world. But the opposite can also happen. When we fail to meet our goals or timelines, ...
