CONSISTENCY IS REWARDING

I have been battling with acne for a while now. Looking for a quick fix, I have tried many products but they seem not to be working to my satisfaction. I tried one organic product and was very meticulous with its application. After three consistent days of using it, I saw a change and complacency made me reduce the number of times I was using it. Then boom! The acne surfaced again. I’m back to square one now and restarting the routine to gain the necessary results.
Consistency has many synonyms which include evenness, steadiness, constancy, and regularity. In the chemical world, consistency relates to the way in which a substance holds together in terms of its thickness, density or firmness.

In my write up today, I will discuss the power of being consistent in our pursuits. In the article, ‘The Power of Consistency’, the writers assert that consistency is a necessary ingredient in success. Having the discipline to keep going through thick and thin will eventually reap the results you are looking for.

I will share three thoughts on pursuing positive consistency in your endeavors.
  •         i. Consistency shows a disciplined person: There’s always a temptation to give up when a pursuit isn’t going the way we want it to go. Because we are accustomed to quick-fixes, we give up all too easily and would look for the tiniest excuses to let it go. However, a person who is disciplined will go against all odds to achieve their aim. They understand the saying of how little drops of water makes a mighty ocean. Keep publishing those articles, keep advertising that product, keep up with those exercises. Resist any urge to be complacent and you’ll be amazed how those efforts will be recognized and rewarded one day.
  •       ii.            Consistency breeds trust: Ever dealt with a person who is always unreliable? Or that partner who loves fiercely today and suddenly disappears tomorrow? Or that person who says one thing and does another? A person who is inconsistent is one who is very confused and can hardly be trusted. A person with a positive consistent attitude or behavior is trustworthy because they are not two-faced and won’t leave you wondering or doubting where they are heading. The firmness in their consistency leads you to trust them because they prove over and over again with their actions that they mean business. For all kinds of relationships, trust is key and I believe one of many building blocks of trust is consistency.
  •     iii.            Consistency holds relationships: No matter the kind of relationship, it will not thrive on inconsistency. It is often said that most relationships fail because people stop doing the things they did in the beginning- a lack of consistency leads to this menace. Customer-company relationships turn sour because a company’s motto or mission statement which reads, ‘The Customer is Supreme’ may be inconsistent with how customers are actually treated. The customers were probably being treated better at the beginning of the business venture but complacency set in and that focus changed. It is similar in romantic relationships too. After the honeymoon period fades, many couples quit working on their relationship and things fall apart. To keep any relationship, a consistent attitude is key. ‘Chemistry is the glue that brings relationships together but it is not the glue that will hold it together; effort and consistency will’.

In a nutshell, know that pursuing consistency in all your endeavors is really rewarding. ‘It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It’s what we do consistently’- Tony Robbins.

Have a wonderful weekend! ☺☺☺☺
